Eligibility for Services

As a not-for-profit, our primary services are funded through various grants from government, business, agency or individual sources. We also conduct fundraising projects to assist in maintaining our programs. Donations enable us to serve individuals who may not meet the eligibility criteria of a current funder.

Eligibility for services is very broad, but still dependent upon the funding for any given year or period.

To be served through our primary resources, one would need to be what is legislatively defined as a "displaced homemaker" - that is someone who was dependent upon another (person or social service program) for her/his primary income; someone who has been in the role of a homemaker or caretaker; and someone who has lost or is at risk of losing that source of income. That may be the result of several things: death, divorce or separation from that provider; loss of public assistance benefits; loss of provider’s employment (or significant reduction of wages); or disability of the provider.

A general job seeker who does not meet this criteria and is looking for employment may be referred to a local Working Solutions One Stop Service Center, or another employment service that can better meet their individual needs.

We recommend that anyone interested in acquiring services from WERC, first call for an appointment for an intake (interview). At this time we will determine how to best assist you in finding a job.

Please call 793-9700 to schedule an appointment.
