Joan Kaminski - Program Manager

Joan first came to WERC as a "Displaced Homemaker" 13 years ago. She was a participant in a seven-week work re-entry/self-development program. Shortly after completing the classes, she obtained employment as a Scheduler for a home care business. She continued to advance her career as she also pursued her college education. She progressed to an Accounts Receivable Clerk position and next to an Administrative Assistant position in private business. Joan earned an Applied Associates Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Cobleskill and advanced to the position of Executive Assistant for a major local corporation.
Joan was asked to serve on the Board of Trustees for WERC to provide a voice for those participants seeking services. In 2009, a position became available as a Trainer/Facilitator at the Center, and Joan was hired to share both her skills and her insight into the needs of program participants. Currently, she collaborates with other staff developing training programs that will assist women in moving their lives forward. She serves as trainer, motivator and mentor to women who are seeking to achieve financial independence through gainful employment. She, along with other staff, teach various applications of Microsoft, job-readiness skills and self-development strategies.
